Calf Barn - Tunnel Ventilation
Tunnel ventilation is the ideal solution for calf barns located in hotter climates. The system operates by creating negative or positive pressure to generate high air speeds and high air exchange rates, producing a desired cooling effect that helps keep calves comfortable during warm conditions.
In a calf barn designed for negative-pressure Tunnel ventilation, fresh air enters through inlet openings at one end of the barn and is exhausted by exhaust fans at the opposite end.
During winter and colder periods, the same ventilation principle can be used with reduced air exchange rates by using smaller curtain openings and fewer fans. To further improve calf comfort in hot weather, pad cooling or high-pressure cooling can be added to lower the incoming air temperature.
